Weeks of watering, fertilizing, and general nurturing came to a conclusion last Saturday as our zucchini and pumpkin contestants brought their fruits for weighing by Farmer Bill. All had signed up and received official contest seeds in spring and early summer.
Taking first place among the very competitive zucchini farmers was Sean of Slow Food SDSU. Sean received a gift certificate to the nursery and the coveted privilege of signing the City Farmers "Biggest Zuc" trophy.
Next time you are in the nursery, look for this trophy proudly displayed in our shop.
Then serious scales were brought out to determine the winner of the 27th Annual Pumpkin Growing Contest!
Keep a spot in your garden open. Seeds for next year's contests will be available in the spring.
