Does rain make you want to plant vegetables? One of the rewards of a fall/winter garden is not having to turn on the faucet so much!
What to plant in San Diego in December...

Happy plants being watered from the sky.
- strawberries
- artichokes
- rhubarb
- caneberries
- blueberries
- pomegranates
- figs
...and all the wonderful greens, lettuces, cabbage, and broccoli that are thriving in our veggie section, both Dig 'em Ups and potted. Pictured is walking-stick kale, which should produce in the garden for a couple of years, after which, the sturdy stem can be dried, sanded and used as a walking stick.

Shopkeeper Bill wants you to know he has new nappa leather billfolds, purses, wallets, and card cases in the nursery store... and a profusion of pretty glass:

Besides being the go-to place for canning supplies, the nursery store has glass storage containers in a variety of shapes and sizes. Use them to store spices, make flavored vinegars, or give as gifts with homemade candy inside.

Is it chilly enough yet? Firewood is available year round.
