Also knowns as "You Dig 'Em's" for certain organic veggies, we offer Dig 'em Ups - giving you the chance to choose your own individual plants, to dig them out of their plastic propagation tray, and to take them home tucked in a compostable, dye-free, brown paper bag.

Farmer Bill remembers in long-ago decades, before plastic containers, nurseries used wooden nursery flats and customers would dig up the plant up and take the plant home in a paper bag. So several years ago, we decided to bring that back.

Here's how our Dig 'Em Ups Work

Step 1:
Take a glance at our ever-changing selection! Seasonally we have an ever-changing selection of strawberries, kale, broccoli, peppers, tomatoes, and so much more! All organically raised in our on-site hot house.

Step 2:
Take a bag and shovel and choose your favorites.

Step 3:
Pop your favorite into a compostable paper bag.

Step 4:
Pay at the register -- and one of our awesome team members can help answer questions about soil, fertilizer, and watering.

Step 5:
Plant your plant at home - you can even plant it IN the compostable brown paper bag (which will decompose quickly). Or you can take the brown paper bag and put it in your compost bin.

By supporting our Dig 'Em Up program, you've helped us reduce tons of waste -- over the last three years alone we’ve kept over 23,000 plastic pots out of the landfill through our dig-em up program!

If you'd like to stay up-to-date with what our current Dig 'Em Up Selection is, an easy way to do that is on Facebook.

Ladybugs - A Bug You Want to Have

"Ladybug, ladybug, fly away home! Your house is on fire and your children are alone!".... or stay and protect my garden, please!

"Ladybug, ladybug, fly away home! Your house is on fire and your children are alone!".... or stay and protect my garden, please!

Sam released 6,000+ ladybugs into the nursery last week! It really was something special.

Why do we love ladybugs so much?  They're an organic and chemical-free way to protect your garden! Ladybug larvae snack on bad insects like aphids and other soft-bodied insects.

If you're interested in ordering some for your garden, let us know!  We place an order every week or so.  We'll give you tips for keeping them around your garden too.... like did you know ladybugs don't fly at night?  So release them right before sunset!

These little guys (and ladies) are a great way to teach kids about beetles and insects too!
