Selecting Tropical Fruit Trees for San Diego 🥭🍌

Grow exotic fruit successfully

San Diego's mild climate allows us to grow an incredible variety of tropical and subtropical fruit trees! Learn which varieties thrive here, from avocados and mangos to guavas, cherimoyas, and papayas. We'll discuss microclimate selection, frost protection strategies, planting techniques, and ongoing care. Discover how to choose trees suited to your specific yard conditions and start enjoying homegrown tropical harvests year-round.

🚜 Since 1972, we've focused on simple growing methods, time-tested advice, and locally-grown plants.

☀️ We'd love to invite you down to our open-air canyon classroom for casual learning, informed by over 50 years of experience.

🧴 During warmer months, hats, sunscreen, water recommended.

🦆 Free to attend, no RSVP required.

🕰️ Class times can change or shift, we recommend you check our website for the most up-to-date (cityfarmersnursery.com).

🚙 Parking Notice for Class Participants If you're attending a free class and are able to walk a short distance, please consider parking on Altadena Ave and walking over. This keeps our lot available for customers shopping at our three businesses who may be on tight schedules.

When classes fill up, a full parking lot can prevent other shoppers from visiting our stores. By parking on the street, you help ensure everyone can access our businesses.

Planning to shop? No worries! You can easily swing back through our "Loading Zone" after class for convenient drive-up loading of bulky purchases—no parking required.
